How to Dispute a Crowdfunding or Donation Issue

Crowdfunding disputes: unfulfilled rewards, fraudulent campaigns, donation refunds. Platform dispute processes and legal routes.

If you backed a crowdfunding project that failed to deliver rewards, or you believe a campaign was fraudulent, your options depend on the platform and the nature of the campaign. Reward-based platforms like Kickstarter and Indiegogo have their own dispute processes, but they do not guarantee refunds.

If you paid by credit card (over £100), you may have a Section 75 claim against your card issuer. For debit card payments, request a chargeback through your bank. Both routes are independent of the platform's own process.

For campaigns that appear fraudulent — where the creator had no intention of delivering — report to Action Fraud. If the campaign was run by a registered charity, report to the Charity Commission.
