Connect EvenStance to your AI assistant

Last updated: 8th October 2026

What this is

EvenStance is a UK consumer dispute platform with an AI assistant called Frank. Through the Model Context Protocol (MCP), you can add EvenStance to your AI assistant of choice and work on disputes against banks, telecoms providers, energy suppliers, landlords, insurers, retailers, and public bodies from inside the chat. Your assistant reads your cases and suggests changes; nothing changes until you approve it in EvenStance.

Once connected, your AI assistant can read your case file, with where each record came from and whether it still holds, look up the company, the regulator and the right ombudsman, and propose next steps: a note, a deadline, a status change or a draft letter. Each proposal waits on your EvenStance dashboard for you to approve or dismiss. It cannot send, approve, settle or delete anything.

Server details

  • MCP server URL: https://www.evenstance.com/api/mcp
  • Protocol: MCP 2026-07-28 over Streamable HTTP, with no handshake. Clients that open with initialize can use 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18 or 2025-03-26.
  • Authentication: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (S256). Dynamic Client Registration (RFC 7591) is supported so AI assistants register themselves; no manual client_id setup.
  • Audience binding: RFC 8707, tokens are bound to the EvenStance resource URL.
  • Discovery: /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource and /.well-known/oauth-authorization-server.

Setup by AI assistant

Claude (Anthropic)

  1. In Claude, open Customize then Connectors, and choose "+ Add" then "Add custom connector". On a Team or Enterprise plan, an Owner adds it under Organization settings, Connectors.
  2. Name: EvenStance.
  3. URL: https://www.evenstance.com/api/mcp, then Continue. Leave "Use Claude's published identity" chosen, and choose Add.
  4. Claude sends you to EvenStance to sign in. Approve the access you want to grant.
  5. EvenStance tools then appear in your Claude chats. Which Claude plans can add custom connectors is set by Anthropic; its help pages have the current list.

ChatGPT (OpenAI)

  1. In ChatGPT, add a custom MCP server. Where the setting sits, and which plans and countries have it, changes often: OpenAI's help pages have the current steps.
  2. Name: EvenStance. MCP server URL: https://www.evenstance.com/api/mcp.
  3. Sign in to EvenStance when it asks, and allow access.
  4. The EvenStance tools then appear in your ChatGPT chats. Changes your assistant suggests wait for your approval in EvenStance.

Perplexity

  1. Available to Perplexity Pro, Max, and Enterprise subscribers.
  2. In Perplexity, open Settings then Connectors then "Add custom connector".
  3. Name: EvenStance. URL: https://www.evenstance.com/api/mcp.
  4. Authentication: OAuth.
  5. Sign in to EvenStance when it asks, and allow access.

Grok (xAI)

  1. Available to all Grok users on web, iOS, and Android.
  2. Go to grok.com/connectors and choose "New Connector" then "Custom".
  3. Name: EvenStance. URL: https://www.evenstance.com/api/mcp.
  4. Authentication: OAuth.
  5. Sign in to EvenStance when it asks, and allow access.

Gemini (Google)

  1. Google offers custom apps only to personal Google accounts in the US, for people aged 18 or over with Keep Activity on, and in English for now. Work and school accounts can't add them yet.
  2. On a computer, go to gemini.google.com and open Settings then Connected Apps (under Personal Intelligence, if Connected Apps isn't listed).
  3. Under "Custom apps", choose "Add a custom app" and enter the URL: https://www.evenstance.com/api/mcp, then Next.
  4. Sign in to EvenStance when it asks, and allow access.
  5. EvenStance then works in the Gemini app on your phone too. Type @ in a chat and choose it. Google's help with custom apps has the current steps.

What your AI assistant can do

The connector exposes tools across five capability groups. Your assistant decides which tool to call based on what you ask.

  • Case management: read your cases, their chronology, deadlines, letters and correspondence, and the evidence a question needs; propose new cases, status changes, notes, deadlines, offers and correspondence records, each for your approval; get recommended next steps.
  • Companies and regulators: search the EvenStance directory of UK companies, view company resolution figures, find the correct ombudsman, look up regulator contact details and time limits.
  • Deadlines and portfolio: list upcoming deadlines across cases, get win rate and total recovered, see average resolution times.
  • Letters and search: propose a draft letter, which you review in EvenStance; search across cases and companies; fetch specific items by ID.
  • UK official data sources: Companies House lookup and officers, UK legislation search, UK Parliament bill tracking, court case search.
  • Calendar export: an iCal file of a case's deadlines. Sending email, importing your mailbox, syncing calendars and copying files to cloud storage stay in EvenStance, where you see what goes out.

Permissions you can grant

When you approve a connector, EvenStance shows the permissions it asks for, and you allow or deny the connection. Whatever it holds, it cannot approve, send, submit, settle or delete anything. The scopes an assistant can ask for:

  • cases:read view your dispute cases, assessments, deadlines and timelines.
  • cases:write propose new cases, status changes, notes, deadlines and correspondence records, each waiting for your approval.
  • companies:read search companies, view regulator details, see company reviews.
  • letters:write propose draft letters, which you review and send in EvenStance.
  • conversations:write propose saving a summary of a chat to a case as a note.

You can revoke any connected AI assistant at any time on the Settings then Connect your AI page, where you can also limit an assistant to reading, or to particular cases. Revocation is immediate.

Free vs paid

The tools a connected assistant can use follow your EvenStance plan, checked on every call. The pricing page lists what each plan includes.

Security overview

  • OAuth 2.1 with PKCE (S256) on every connection, audience-bound tokens (RFC 8707).
  • What your assistant receives: what it reads through the connector goes to the assistant's provider under that provider's terms. EvenStance withholds account secrets and billing details, and marks text written by other parties so the assistant treats it as information, not instructions.
  • Audit log of every MCP tool call that touches your data, retained 12 months.
  • Rate limiting on every OAuth and tool endpoint.
  • See the full Security and Trust page for the rest of the security posture.

What we are not

EvenStance is not a law firm. We do not provide regulated legal advice. We do not represent you, negotiate for you, or charge a fee out of any money recovered. You always remain the complainant, and you keep every penny recovered. Nothing is sent to a company until you have read it and told us to.

Troubleshooting

  • OAuth redirect fails: check that your AI assistant has up-to-date Dynamic Client Registration support. All four named assistants do as of June 2026.
  • Tool returns "insufficient_scope": the AI assistant tried to use a scope you did not approve. Revoke and reconnect, granting the missing scope.
  • Tool says it is not included in your plan: the tool needs a paid plan; the pricing page lists what each plan includes.
  • Your assistant says a change is waiting for approval: open your EvenStance dashboard, where it is listed under "Waiting for your approval". If the case has changed since, the proposal is not run: ask the assistant to look again.
  • Connection drops or rate-limit error: the EvenStance MCP endpoint applies per-IP and per-client rate limits. Wait the time given in the Retry-After header.
