The Yaheetech Velvet Convertible Sofa Bed has been recalled due to a serious risk of fire. The foam filling does not meet UK flammability requirements and can catch fire and continue to flame when exposed to an ignition source.

How to get your refund
1. Stop using the sofa bed immediately and keep it away from all ignition sources (candles, open flames, heaters, cigarettes).

Your legal rights
Furniture and Furnishings (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988: OPSS confirmed this sofa bed does not comply. Supplying non-compliant upholstered furniture is a criminal offence.
Consumer Rights Act 2015 s.9: Goods must be of satisfactory quality. A sofa bed that poses a serious fire risk is inherently unsafe and fails this test absolutely.
Consumer Protection Act 1987 Part I: The manufacturer and importer are strictly liable for damage caused by defective products. Negligence does not need to be proved.
You are entitled to a full refund including postage costs. Monumart have confirmed this is available for all affected products.
If the sofa bed caused a fire or personal injury, you may have a product liability claim against Monumart Ltd and/or the manufacturer. Seek specialist legal advice.
If your refund is refused, report to Local Authority Trading Standards (who already notified this recall) and consider a County Court claim.
